Answers:

  1. Miep Gies is still alive.  She would have just celebrated her 99th birthday in February of this year.

Since the Frank family was arrested by the Nazis after their hiding place was betrayed in 1944, Miep Gies has worked tirelessly to keep their memory alive.  She has traveled to many countries to give speeches at schools throughout the world.  She does not consider herself a hero for what she did in trying to save the Franks, and each year, on August 4, the anniversary of their arrest, she mourns their passing.  As recently as 1995, when she was 87, she came to a school in Long Beach, California to share her insights and expriences with a group of students at-risk.  That story is told in the 2007 movie "Freedom Writers", based on the book of the same name by Erin Gruwell.

Miep Gies gave an interview to Scholastic.com in 1997 about her relationship with the Franks. I've pasted the link below for your convenience.

You can also find information about her at the Shoah Foundation web site link below.

Apparently she is alive, but she doesnt have the diary.

I believe Otto Frank left the diary to the Anne Frank House or maybe it was like the dutch documentation of war stuff.

    Maybe i made that up.

I dunno, but she wouldnt have the diary, considering its historic and financial value, its not a hand-me-down, you might pass on a jacket that doesnt fit to a friend, not something thats so unique and er..translated into like 19856803 languages.
